Profile
Attorney Jin- Yeong Yang is a recognized expert in the fields of personal information protection, artificial intelligence (AI), data utilization, and ICT regulation. Since entering the legal profession after passing the 52nd Korean National Bar Examination, she has contributed to the development of digital policy and legal frameworks through her work as a member and advisor to various government agencies and professional organizations, including the Personal Information Protection Commission, the Korea Fair Trade Commission, the Korea Communications Commission, the National Information Society Agency (NIA), and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).
In particular, she has developed extensive expertise in balancing privacy protection and data utilization, as well as addressing the legal and ethical challenges of the AI era, through her service as a member of the Personal Information Protection Commission’s Dispute Mediation Committee, a member of the Personal Information Future Forum, a policy committee member of the Association of Privacy Professionals, and a member of KISA’s AI Cyber News Copyright Forum. She has also accumulated substantial experience in ESG and emerging industry regulation through her work as an advisor on corporate transaction policy for the Korea Fair Trade Commission, Chair of the ESG Special Committee of the Korean Women Lawyers Association, and a member of the Agentic AI Forum of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).
In addition, she has contributed to institutional improvements relating to AI ethics, consumer protection, and social responsibility through her activities as a director of the International Association for AI Ethics (IAAE), a member of the Consumer Organizations Council’s Advisory Dispute Resolution Committee, and a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Gender Equality Policy Committee. Her academic and research work includes studies on institutional improvements relating to accredited certificates and electronic signatures, as well as legal and regulatory responses to deepfake technology, demonstrating her expertise in key legal issues arising from digital transformation.
